I am heartily sick of excusing self-serving political acts as honoring the intent of the founding fathers. I can see two reasons for honoring the intent of the founders.

Wedding Ring Advice
When wearing a wedding ring, what hand should it be worn on? Realistically it doesn't really matter. However, if you have love and hate tattooed on your knuckles, you might want to wear your wedding ring on the love hand.

An americano is not an espresso!
Nor are cappucinos, lattes, mochas, or any other beverage that isn't finely ground coffee brewed under high pressure in small quantities.
Perhaps I'm whining, but when I ask for an espresso at a coffee shop, I don't expect the response to be, "So you want a(n) X", or some similar statement where X isn't espresso. The barista cheerfully informed me people really mean americano when they say espresso, and expressed shock when I stated that I really wanted an espresso. Is it to much to ask that when a patron asks for a specific drink, the assumption is that they want what they're asking for?

Biggby Coffe Grand Openning
At a first try Biggby's makes a decent shot of espresso.
I first encountered Biggby Coffee (née Beaners) at their original location in East Lansing, MI in 1995. Since that time, their business has changed from a small cool coffee shop into a rapidly growing chain. Among the consequences of their growth was the aquisition and destruction of at least one local chain that fostered competition among their stores to make the best espresso. Another loss was in the quality of the espresso they served. The reduction in quality may have been a consequence of centralized distribution of supplies, or perhaps it was due to poor barista training. In any event the espresso I had today was a pleasant surprise. The shot has a good crema, took about 25 seconds to pull, wasn't scorchingly hot, and far exceeded my expectations.
I won't be abandoning my regular coffee house, but will come to this Biggbys again.

Do you really want espresso?
Apparently I don't sound very convincing when I order espresso. In the last week I've ordered an espresso at five different locations. At three of them I was asked if I really meant that I wanted an espresso.
